Exploring Careers and Career Portals Teacher Training

This training is provided by TEA to certify current CTE teachers to teach Exploring Careers and/or Career Portals Courses. These courses are designed to provide students with the ability to make informed decisions concerning the world of work and how it relates to the world of learning. Students will compile a portfolio of their work, take assessments to better guide them in their career development, investigate 16 different career clusters, become aware of personal financial management, complete their high school graduation plan focusing on their post-secondary goals, discover the job-hunting process and learn how to succeed at work.

Along with the training, each participant will receive TEKS aligned curriculum and supporting teacher materials, including video and free online resources such as TexasWorkPrep.com, Reality Check, High School Graduation Plan, Career Investigation and Career Success interactive newspapers and the TexasCARESonline.com. In addition, classroom sets of materials will be provided. This training is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the Labor Market and/or would like to receive the wonderful materials provided by the TEA. However, only CTE certified teachers would be eligible for certification to teach these courses.
