CTE Training Institute

Pre-registration required

The CTE Training Institute (CTE-TI) is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance and designate CTE professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of managing CTE programs across the state of Texas. Completing the CTE-TI is the hallmark of a committed CTE professional.

Objectives:

  • Increase understanding of CTE administrative policies and procedures including legal and ethical practices
  • Provide participants with leadership capabilities to implement effective CTE programs that increase student retention and prepare students for a globally competitive workforce
  • Provide participants with updates and changes occurring in career and technical education
  • Provide resources to strengthen career and postsecondary opportunities
  • Promote awareness about career and technical education including how to build effective business and industry partnerships and increase parental and community involvement
  • Share best practices to further integrate academic and technical skill attainment

CTE Training Institute courses are offered at both annual CTAT events, Education Open Source and the Texas Career Education Conference. CTE professionals who complete either the administration or guidance strands will be honored at the Annual CTAT Awards Luncheon and receive a certificate of completion.

Administration 202

Administration 301 (Formerly CTE Program Management Training, Part II)
This professional development session builds on material covered in Administration 201. Administration 201 is not a prerequisite; you may take Administration 201 and 301 in any order.

Topics include:
Career Pathway Design; Connecting with Post-secondary; Student Certification and Reporting/Teacher Certification; PBMAS Reporting Requirements; Quality Instruction and Curriculum Integration; Using Workforce and Demography Trends; Professional Development for Your District; Comprehensive Guidance Programs; Resources and Assessment; Transitions P-16 and Six-Year Plans; CTAT Mentor Program

Guidance 201 (Formerly CTE Program Management Training, Part I, Guidance portion)
This professional development session is designed to provide counselors with the training, networking and resources needed to integrate career planning and college readiness into a counseling program. Training is tailored to fulfill both academic and career counseling needs.

Ethics Training for Licensed Professional Counselors
Highlighting real-case scenarios to increase awareness, lower risks and define responsibilities for counselors. Training is based on the ACA Code of Ethics and satisfies the LPC renewal requirement in ethics.
