Breaking Through the Cloud with Tech 2.0
Posted by TCEC on 07/17/11 in Blog
Learners today are growing up cutting their teeth on technology. Unfortunately, as demand grows for the use of innovative technology tools in the classroom, school district budgets statewide are shrinking. Fortunately, there are many free cloud based tools available both specifically for education or can be used for educational purposes. We will be sharing some of these tools with you through the day on Tuesday, July 19. Not only do we think these tools are great for education, but we use these same applications every day.
We hope to share with you ways of communicating with students, staff and parents using social networking while still adhering to privacy and FERPA policies. Also, we will help you navigate through the many cloud based Tech 2.0 tools on the Internet such as Google Docs, online storage and other productivity software. Even though they weren’t specifically created for education, they are powerful tools for any campus to use without having to purchase expensive equipment and software.
Most of us are already familiar with sites like YouTube, Flickr and Picasa Web. However, few are familiar with the editing tools they contain that can turn them from passive consumption sites to engaging production sites. Many other tools are available to aid in web creation, screen capture, video and photo editing and finally portfolio development.
Join us throughout the day on Tuesday, July 19 so we can share our passion with you. Check the program guide for specific times.
